"Mr. Tezuka's Top 5 Course-Creation Tips - Super Mario Maker 2" is a video made to promote Super Mario Maker 2 that was published on Nintendo of America's official YouTube channel in 2019. In the video, Takashi Tezuka provides tips to the viewer on how to create good levels in Super Mario Maker 2. As Takashi speaks, gameplay footage from Super Mario Maker 2 is shown.
Summary[edit]
At the start of the video, Takashi introduces himself and his role as the producer of Super Mario Maker 2. He then states that he would like to introduce five tips that can be used to make good courses in Super Mario Maker 2. A graphic then comes up on screen signifying the first tip. Each tip segment leads directly into the next. The tips are as follows:
- Takashi says that the player should not think too hard when designing a level, and that, even if it is in a rough form, the player should aim to get their level uploaded. He then says that if the player attempts to make a very good course that will receive praise, the player might find it hard to start creating the level.
- Takashi says that players should come up with the name of their level first, as coming up with the level's name will also give the player an idea of what they want the level to be. Takashi says that this is easier than starting from scratch.
- Takashi says that players should look at levels made by other players to use as a reference point for creating their own levels. He says that players can download these courses to get inspiration from them. Takashi then says that players may find some levels that are well-thought out, and others with unexpected elements. Takashi then says that players should try to use these levels to come up with their own ideas.
- Takashi says that players should look to the game's Story Mode for inspiration if they are having trouble coming up with ideas for levels.
- Takashi says that players should try making levels with another player in the engine's two-player mode as much as possible. He says that the person that the player chooses to make the level with can be anyone, from a friend to a family member. Takashi then says that getting another person's opinion on one's level as it is being made will improve the quality of the level.
Takashi then tells the players to have fun, and then waves goodbye.
Notes[edit]
- The shirt that Takashi is wearing throughout the video was released as part a UNIQLO contest, which was called "UTGP '17".
