"Nintendo - Mario Kart 7 Reggie Q&A Video" is a promotional video published on Nintendo of America's official YouTube channel in 2011. The video was made to promote Mario Kart 7. In the video, Reggie Fils-Aimé answers questions posed by Facebook users about his personal opinions regarding elements of the Mario Kart series. The video was shot at the LA Auto Show with Reggie sitting in a large replica of Mario's Standard Kart as it appears in Mario Kart 7, which was made by West Coast Customs.
Synopsis[edit]
At the start of the video, Reggie introduces himself and mentions a [[list of hashtags|hashtag]: that he uses, this being "#Regginator". He then says that he is here to answer some questions posed to him. These are listed below.
- What was the first Mario Kart game you ever played, and what was the background?
Reggie says that the first Mario Kart game that he played was Super Mario Kart, and that he played it around 1993. He then says that he is aware that the game came out the previous year, but that he didn't purchase new games as soon as they released at the time. Reggie then says that, at that time, he was working for Pizza Hut. He then says that he would play with his two oldest sons, who were eight and six years old at the time, respectively. He then says that he has a lot of fun memories from playing the game with his sons.
- Of all the Mario Kart characters, which driving style best matches your own?
Reggie states that he played a game (presumably a personality quiz) on the Mario Kart fan page, and that it told him that he drives most like Bowser. He says that he thinks that this is due to the fact that he likes to nudge other drivers off the track. Reggie then says that he personally believes that he drives most like Yoshi, stating that Yoshi usually has the kart with the highest speed, and that he has a "lead foot". He then says not to tell the Seattle Police Department this.
- If you could use any item in real life out of the game, what would it be?
Reggie gives two answers to this question. He states that the first item he would pick is the Bullet Bill, and that he would use it to go through traffic and to his destination quickly. He then says that, for his second item, he would use the kart's then-new glider attachment.
- If you could race for real any of the Mario Kart tracks from Mario Kart 7, what would it be?
Reggie gives two answers to this question. He says that the first track he would want to race in is any track that features Wuhu Island. He then lists various games that the island appears in, such as Wii Fit and Wii Sports Resort. He then says that he also likes how Retro Studios modified the design of DK Pass. He then states that he really enjoyed that track, and then thanks Retro Studios and the Facebook users who sent in questions.
The video ends with a black screen on which text thanking Reggie for answering these questions (in addition to using his #Regginator hashtag again) is shown.
