"Staff Credits",[1] also known as simply "Credits",[2] is a musical theme in Mario Kart 7, where it plays during the game's staff credits. The theme is lead by a saxophone, with a piano playing both chords and occasional licks throughout the theme, sometimes even temporarily taking over the lead position. As well, a heavy slap bass and fairly standard 4
4 percussion back the entire theme.
The theme heavily quotes from other Mario Kart 7 themes, specifically "Mario Kart 7 Title Screen" and "Toad Circuit". Furthermore, "Toad Circuit" itself quotes from "Mario Kart 7 Title Screen", and "Mario Kart 7 Title Screen" quotes from a number of other Mario Kart themes, including "Mario Kart 64 Title Screen" from Mario Kart 64.
History[edit]
Mario Kart 7[edit]
Mario Kart 7 marks the first appearance of "Staff Credits". It is also included in the official album Nintendo Sound Selection: Endings & Credits.
Mario Kart World[edit]
In Mario Kart World, a jazz fusion arrangement of "Staff Credits" can play in Free Roam during the day and on any VS Race route. It is fully titled "Staff Credits (Mario Kart 7)" in the Nintendo Music app. This arrangement takes more inspiration from "Mario Kart 7 Title Screen". The corresponding Nintendo Music image depicts a race on Peach Stadium, a scenario in which the arrangement cannot play.
