"Boo Cinema"[1][2] is a musical theme in Mario Kart World, where it plays when racing on the course of the same name. This theme prominently features woodwind instruments, as well as brass and a harpsichord.

History[edit]

Mario Kart World[edit]

Mario Kart World features the first appearance of "Boo Cinema".

A big band arrangement of "Boo Cinema", featuring saxophones, brass instruments and an electric guitar plays when the player drives through the movie screen section of the track. It is titled "Boo Cinema (Inside the Screen)" in the Nintendo Music app.

A slower arrangement of the theme, which features brief flute and clarinet licks, and a backing string and piano bassline, plays when approaching the track from a route before reaching the course's finish line. It also includes a backing arpeggio reminiscent of "Banshee Boardwalk". It is titled "Boo Cinema (Intro)" in the Nintendo Music app.

A remix of "Boo Cinema (Intro)", featuring only the piano and drums, plays during the rolling start of the Spiny Rally.

In Knockout Tour, approaching the next checkpoint causes the music to transition into an outro arrangement, before changing to the intro arrangement of the following track. This track features four distinct outros that play depending of the section of the main track that plays when the player reaches the end of the segment, these share the same motif, but are played in different keys. It is one of four course themes to use four outros, the other three being "Mario Bros. Circuit", "Airship Fortress" and "Peach Stadium".

A brief arrangement of the bridge section of "Boo Cinema" is incorporated into "Staff Credits", which plays during the game's staff credits and is a medley of various themes from the game. It plays between "Dry Bones Burnout" and "Starview Peak"
