"Stage Start"[1] is a musical theme composed by Koji Kondo for Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, where it plays at the start of every level. This theme is played on percussion.

Yoshi series[edit]

Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3[edit]

In Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, the Game Boy Advance remake of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, an arrangement of "Stage Start" plays for the same purpose as in the original game.

Yoshi Touch & Go[edit]

In Yoshi Touch & Go, an arrangement of "Stage Start" plays at the start of the segments where the player controls Yoshi.

Yoshi's Island DS[edit]

In Yoshi's Island DS, an arrangement of "Stage Start" plays at the start of every level.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, an arrangement of "Stage Start" is incorporated at the beginning of "Yoshi's Island," which is a medley arrangement of "Flower Field BGM," "Opening Melody," and "Map Screen" from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island by Yoshihito Yano and can play in the Woolly World stage. This arrangement returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, now titled "Yoshi's Island (for 3DS / Wii U)," where it can play in any Super Smash Bros.-series and Yoshi-series stage.

Mario Kart series[edit]

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as part of Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass, an arrangement of "Stage Start," titled "Starting Grid (Yoshi's Island)" in the Nintendo Music app, plays at the starting grid of the Yoshi's Island race course in Grand Prix or VS Race, replacing the usual "Starting Grid" jingle.

Mario Kart Tour[edit]

In Mario Kart Tour, an arrangement of "Stage Start" plays at the starting grid of the Yoshi's Island race course, replacing the usual starting grid jingle.
