"Wildlands"[1] is a musical theme first appearing in Yoshi's Island DS. This theme is rearranged in various other themes throughout the game and serves as a main theme for the game.
History[edit]
Yoshi's Island DS[edit]
The theme first appears as a central motif in Yoshi's Island DS, being rearranged in various tracks. It appears as part of the opening theme, in the plains, underground, athletic, jungle, beach, and castle themes, as well as during mid-boss and big boss battles. It also appears in the ending theme for the game.
Super Smash Bros. series[edit]
Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, an arrangement of "Wildlands" arranged by Shogo Sakai can play in the Yoshi's Island stage. It opens with a quote of "Stage Start" from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, a theme that also appears in Yoshi's Island DS, and Yoshi saying his name.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the Super Smash Bros. Brawl arrangement of "Wildlands" can play in the Woolly World stage.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Super Smash Bros. Brawl arrangement of "Wildlands" can play in any Super Smash Bros.-series and Yoshi-series stage.
Notes[edit]
- The theme sounds similar to the opening three-note phrases of Claude Debussy's The Girl with the Flaxen Hair.
