A Blow Hard[1] is a Pokey that fires smaller yellow Pokeys at a Yoshi in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (and its reissue), Yoshi's Island DS, and Yoshi's New Island. Blow Hards are named after the slang term "blowhard," meaning "someone who exaggerates about themselves," and referencing their method of attack of spitting Pokeys. Despite being a Pokey, a Blow Hard more closely resembles a Piranha Plant due to its spherical spotted head and large lips. It always faces a Yoshi and has a blinking crosshair to tell where it is firing. Any solid objects and platforms can stop its projectiles. It is nearly invincible, but a Yoshi can pound the ground nearby or throw an egg at it to temporarily knock it out; however, it wakes up a few seconds later. It can be defeated entirely in the first game with a blue watermelon or red watermelon.

Although Blow Hards spit yellow Pokeys, their artwork for Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island depicts them spitting green ones instead.

It cannot be defeated, but if you hit it with an egg or Hip Drop it nearby, it will be stunned.)
