Gobblins[1][2] are yellow, spherical enemies in Yoshi's Island DS. Found blocking Warp Pipes, they will bounce Yoshi off if he makes contact with them. To defeat a Gobblin, Yoshi must throw six eggs at it, with it eating each egg and slightly expanding each time. Upon eating the fifth egg, their eyes change to an X shape and they frown. They will explode upon being hit by the sixth egg.
Gobblins in the Island Museum appear in the subterranean-enemy exhibit and are one of the few enemies in the Island Museum that can be defeated.
Naming[edit]
"Gobblin" is a portmanteau of "goblin," a creature in folklore and fantasy fiction that resembles a dwarf, and "gobble," referring to their ability to eat eggs.
