Luma Shot is Rosalina's standard special move in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If a Luma is next to Rosalina, Rosalina will fire the Luma, making it a projectile. Rosalina can charge up the strength and distance of the move by holding the button and releasing it. A fully charged Luma Shot makes the Luma invincible to attacks, until it stops moving.

If a Luma is a distance away from Rosalina, she can command the Luma to come back to her. The move cannot be used if a Luma is not present. When Kirby obtains the move via inhaling Rosalina, Kirby can shoot a temporary Luma that disappears after it is sent away. Unlike Rosalina's Luma, Kirby's Luma is always invincible to attacks, giving it higher priority whenever Rosalina and Kirby are using Luma Shot at each other.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Luma Shot has two variations that can be swapped once the player unlocks them. Luma Warp warps the Luma to a set distance. What it lacks in power, it makes up for with increased speed, and it cannot be reflected. Power Luma Shot is much slower than Luma Shot, and has a shorter travel distance, but it is more powerful when fully charged, as the Luma will move in a drill-like fashion.
