“You guys know what CDs are right? That's right, those little shiny record-things! I still listen to records, but maybe you kids don't know anything but CDs these days... Whatever!!”
Wario, Wario Land 4 American instruction booklet, page 28

A CD is a collectable found in the Game Boy Advance game Wario Land 4. It also appears as a special item found in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Wario Land 4[edit]

Wario opening a CD case

In Wario Land 4, each level (excluding the Hall of Hieroglyphs and the Golden Passage) includes a hidden CD found in a CD box[1] that Wario can find. Unlike the jewel pieces and the Keyzer, they are not required to complete the game. Each CD holds a musical tune that can be played in the Sound Room, and the CD matches the color of the corresponding Passage it was found in.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

Mew dropping a CD

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, a CD may appear randomly throughout any part of the game, but stay a short time. When collected, CDs add a random song to their selection of My Music tracks. However, if a CPU controlled opponent picks one up, it will not be collected at the end of the match. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, if Mew appears from a Poké Ball, it will drop a CD, but if the player has collected all the songs in the game, it will drop a sticker instead in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and a Custom Part or a Trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Type Image Description
Classic BrawlTrophy144.png Each stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl has several songs prepared for it. You can set the percentage chances for which songs appear in My Music. It's fun to choose songs according to your tastes. Each CD contains one song to increase your music library. Be sure to grab them when you see them. Once you've got all the music that's in the game, CDs will stop appearing.

These elusive items are no good to you at all during battle, but picking one up adds a new song to your growing music collection. You can then give it a listen in Sounds and use My Music to set how often you'll hear it in battles. Yes, it IS a shame you can't also throw the CD at a foe, but not everything in life is for throwing at people.
