Main article: Dry Dry Ruins (theme)

In Mario Kart Wii, arrangements of the first bar of "Desert Hills" are interspersed into the theme that plays in Dry Dry Ruins, titled「カラカラいせき」(Karakara iseki) in the game's official soundtrack.

Desert Hills also returns as a classic course, where the original theme plays.

Mario Kart World[edit]

In Mario Kart World, Desert Hills again returns as a classic course, and with it a new arrangement of "Desert Hills". A simple, prelude arrangement of "Desert Hills" plays when approaching the course from a route in Knockout Tour or VS Race. An additional version of the prelude theme that only includes the bass and percussion plays during the rolling start of the Golden Rally.
