The Gold Mantis is Waluigi's default signature kart in Mario Kart DS. It resembles a standard excavator, containing a small cab to sit. It is possibly a reference to Foreman Spike's yellow excavator from Mobile Golf, with its status as Waluigi's kart likely being a nod to Waluigi sharing several physical characteristics and a role as a human antagonist to Mario and Luigi with Spike; it could also be a play on Waluigi's avaricious "gold digger" personality. The emblem is located on the front and right side of the kart. It has high speed, average weight, acceleration, handling, and drift, and low selection of items. Its speed is tied with the Poltergust 4000; its weight is tied with the Hurricane; and its handling and drift are tied with the Shooting Star.

The Gold Mantis is also unlocked for Mario and Donkey Kong when gold trophies are won in all Nitro or Retro cups on 150cc, and when all cups on 150cc Mirror are won, every driver can use it.

Diggers resembling the Gold Mantis appear on GCN Waluigi Stadium in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass and Mario Kart Tour.
