The Gold Glider is an unlockable glider in Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. CPU players never use the Gold Glider, along with the Gold Standard, and the Gold Tires, making this glider player-exclusive.

Mario Kart 7[edit]

In Mario Kart 7, it highly resembles the Super Glider, except that the Gold Glider has a golden color surrounding it. It can be unlocked by connecting with 100 people with StreetPass, or by collecting 10,000 coins. The Gold Glider does not offer any stat boosts and is therefore a purely aesthetic unlockable. It does, however, slightly increase the kart's gliding distance.

When the Gold Gilder is combined with the Gold Tires and Gold Standard body, they complete the whole Gold Standard. This kart gives great speed (the 2nd biggest boost in the game) and good weight, but has a bad acceleration and handling boost, and has the worst off-road in the game.

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]

The Gold Glider returns as an unlockable glider in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Instead of being entirely gold, the cloth is now black, and the game logo's "8", surrounded by a wreath of olive leaves, appears in place of the character's emblem, like the Gold Standard. Like in the previous game, it is unlocked by collecting 10,000 coins (halved to 5,000 coins in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe), and it does not offer any stat boosts.
