"Nintendo 48-Hour Wii U Video Challenge - Legacy" is a promotional short film uploaded to Nintendo of America's YouTube channel in 2013. The video was created as part of Nintendo's Wii U Video Challenge, an event held at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in which videos created in under 48 hours by various creators were showcased. This video was created by the YouTube channel "Broken Pixels", and serves as a rap battle between multiple video game characters and creators, including Shigeru Miyamoto and Mario.
Synopsis[edit]
The video begins with a man playing New Super Mario Bros. U. The man looks behind him and runs outside, noticing another man (identified in the lyrics as "Corporate Asshole") on the roof of a nearby building. The man then begins rapping. The video then cuts to verses from Link, Little Mac, and Mario, before cutting back to the Corporate Asshole, who raps another verse. The final verse in the song is rapped by Shigeru Miyamoto. The video then cuts to the short film's cast sitting in a living room. Mario walks into frame, and then talks to Shigeru Miyamoto for a moment. The video then shows a credits sequence.
Lyrics[edit]
- I don't have a care about adventure or discovery
- The only thing that matters is investment and recovery
- I could give a rat about your pretty color scheme
- All I see is green, you catching what I mean?
- You can take a screw to all your innovations
- Guns, guns, guns, blood and gory animation
- No imagination, DLC creation
- Social desecration mixed with noob humiliations
- Who cares about score? I like to explore
- You really think that people don't adventure anymore?
- With your guns and your map packs
- I think you've lost track
- You see, my sack has four swords
- That say you're gonna get whacked
- Since my awakening, I've served to inspire
- I fought with my dark side and kept my sword skyward
- See, my fighting style has always been a link to my past
- But it's the fire inside of my heart that will not let this pass
- What you know 'bout challenges?
- Everything off balance and
- Bosses running capers, turning confidence to vapors and
- Everything they do, they end up owning you for free
- I need to be like Mike T. and eat eat DLC
- Please
- I'ma punch you out and then instead of getting bitter
- With the one-two-one
- Put in work and get the glitter for the single hitter quitter, so
- You can find the picture with your face down, booty up
- Posted on to Twitter
- What's my name? (Mario)
- No, it's Super Mario
- Keep on talking trash and I'ma tell you this scenario
- I'm gonna get my dinosaur, I'm gonna get my flower
- I'm gonna get a million lives with all my star power
- I invented side scrollers, I'm the reason for this industry
- Every game you see now is embedded with my legacy
- If you're getting coin, then you should pay me royalties
- For each and every fan throughout the years that's shown me loyalty
- Ha, fools
- Thank you for the laughs
- Now let me get the powder out 'fore I commence the slaps
- Spare me all your preaching, who do you think you're teaching?
- This money, this power, it tells me I am king
- The people of the world understand one thing
- That's the buck-buck-buck and the bling-bling-bling
- You innocence is touching, endeavors I applaud
- But before I waste my powder, let me show you why I'm God
- I made the world of Nintendo in seven days
- I created all of gaming's favorite heroes with my brain
- First blessed you with the Kong, and the next day with the Bros.
- Then I gave you Zelda's hero and the Falcon from F-Zero
- And in case you forgot, next I fathered Star Fox
- When you needed little friends, then I gave you Pikmin
- On the seventh day I rested, I am the Master Quest
- The next time that you think you're winning, remember...
- I'm the best
