"Super Mario Odyssey on Nintendo Switch — Journey to Launch" (titled "Super Mario Odyssey - Journey to Launch - Nintendo Switch" on the Nintendo of America upload) is a video released on Nintendo's YouTube accounts to promote Super Mario Odyssey. The video is about a Mario mascot costume with Cappy going across the United States to celebrate the game's release.

The video begins with Mario packing his bag with a map of the United States, a Nintendo Switch and three games for it, one of which being Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a Nintendo 3DS along with Metroid: Samus Returns and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, Wedding Mario, Bowser, and Princess Peach amiibos, a camera, a selfie stick, sunglasses, a comb, a handkerchief, and a pair of overalls. The journey begins in Los Angeles, where Mario's trailer is unveiled. Mario travels north in California and goes to the Big Basin Redwoods. Footage of him walking in the redwoods transitions to gameplay footage of Mario in the Wooded Kingdom, followed by him playing the game in his trailer, resting in a hammock, and enjoying the view from a rocky cliff.

Mario travels to Tucson, Arizona, where his car breaks down. While there, he takes a picture in front of a cactus, which segues into footage of the Sand Kingdom. Following this, Mario goes to Dallas where the State Fair of Texas is happening. There he meets a Big Tex mascot, takes pictures with attendees, and rides attractions. Nintendo Switch kiosks are also seen where people can play Super Mario Odyssey.

The next stop is Fifty-Six, Arkansas, where Mario visits a waterfall and takes a picture of him in front of it, which segues to the Cascade Kingdom. Mario goes to St. Louis where he exercises far from the Gateway Arch. Mario goes to Chicago, where he takes more pictures with people and there are more Nintendo Switch kiosks available. Mario travels to Middlebury, Indiana, where he walks in a forest and finds a giant mushroom. He also attempts fishes here, but his fishing rod breaks. Later, Mario travels to various statues and throws another Cappy onto a statue of a T. Rex.

Mario arrives in Philadelphia, where he dances in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and is approached by someone with a Philly cheesesteak. Finally, Mario arrives in New York City where he walks on a beach, which segues into footage of the Seaside Kingdom. Mario then enters the city, which segues into footage of the Metro Kingdom. In the city, the launch celebration for Super Mario Odyssey is being held, which took place on October 26, 2017.
