The shell launcher is an obstacle that appears in Super Mario Odyssey. It is a hole in a wall that constantly fires shells. It is found only in the Seaside Kingdom, in the Rolling Canyon where it shoots shells down the slope to prevent Mario from reaching the Power Moon "The Seal Above the Canyon" and unlocking a Ground-Pound Switch needed to release a fountain. The force at which the shell launcher fires shells depends on how close Mario is to it; if Mario is still a distance away, it shoots shells farther, and if he is close by, the shells simply drop upon exiting the launcher. When Mario passes under the shell launcher, it stops firing shells and becomes inactive.
