Dumpsters[1] appear in Super Mario Odyssey as metallic containers that occasionally hold items of interest. They appear exclusively in the Metro Kingdom, and may contain either coins, a Life-Up Heart, or a Power Moon; they need to be hit with a Cap Throw or a captured Bullet Bill to release the items they hold.
Two Power Moons can be obtained from dumpsters:
| # | Image | Name | Kingdom | Location | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 18 | How Do They Take Out the Trash? | Metro Kingdom | From the New Donk City Hall Rooftop, the player should look for a dumpster on top of an iron girder to the east. To reach the dumpster, Mario must long jump from the City Hall Rooftop to the iron girder. Once Mario opens the dumpster (by throwing Cappy at it), he will receive a Power Moon. | Available after collecting the "New Donk City's Pest Problem" Multi Moon. | |
| 48 | One Man's Trash... | Metro Kingdom | In the area with the "Bullet Billding" Power Moon, the player must capture a Bullet Bill from the first Bill Blaster and then use it to fly across to a hidden platform with a dumpster. If Mario opens the dumpster (by throwing Cappy at it or by crashing the Bullet Bill into it), he will receive a Power Moon. | Available after collecting the "New Donk City's Pest Problem" Multi Moon. |
