"The Forgotten Isle",[2] also known as "Forgotten Isle 2",[3] is a musical theme composed by Koji Kondo for Super Mario Odyssey, where it plays in the Lost Kingdom after Cappy has been rescued from Klepto and the fourth underground section of Darker Side.
This theme is based on gamelan, traditional Indonesian ensemble music made up predominantly of percussive instruments. It is in the key of B♭ major, employing a pentatonic scale {D, E♭, F, A, B♭} that approximates the selisir mode of the pelog tuning system. The theme has an odd time signature of 11
16; within Super Mario music, it shares this allotment of 11 beats per bar with "Results (1st − 4th Place)" from Mario Kart 64.
