Closets, formerly known as wardrobe closets[1] and simply wardrobes,[1] are objects that can be used to change Mario's clothing in Super Mario Odyssey and Donkey Kong and Pauline's clothing in Donkey Kong Bananza.
HistoryEdit
Super Mario OdysseyEdit

In Super Mario Odyssey, wardrobe closets are colored red and white and shaped like hats, with a gold outline and small hat-shaped handles. A wardrobe closet is present aboard the Odyssey, and one can be found in the yellow side of the Crazy Cap store in most kingdoms. All Crazy Cap stores that are not inside a building (those found in the Cap Kingdom, Cascade Kingdom, Wooded Kingdom, and Seaside Kingdom) lack a wardrobe closet.
Wardrobe closets can be opened by pressing when Mario is close to one, allowing him to access all of the hats and suits that he has obtained. In the outfit menu, Mario can mix and match hats and suits from different outfits. Alternatively, when is pressed for the Random option, Mario changes into a random combination of a hat and suit from the wardrobe, and his outfit re-shuffles after he loses all of his health points and respawns.
Both the hat and suit categories have the total number Mario owns of that type displayed on the right side of the screen. Unlike most other trackers, the maximum number of hats and suits is not shown. The numbers still turn yellow and have a star icon displayed once the player has obtained every item in that category, excluding any special hats and suits added to the game through updates.

In Donkey Kong Bananza, closets are shaped like the head of a violin and colored indigo with silver doors marked with musical notation. They are found in Getaways and near Style Shops, where the majority of its items are obtained. Any items received through other means, such as completing an objective, are immediately added to the closet. In the closet menu, items are split into four categories – neckwear, fur color, britches, and Pauline's outfit – as well as an additional category for headwear in the post-game when Donkey Kong regains his Mining Helmet. While highlighting an item on the menu, a preview of how it appears on the character is shown on the right side of the screen, and the player can tilt left and right for a 360-degree view of the character.
