Anthropomorphic snakes appear in Donkey Kong Bananza as the primary inhabitants of the Underground World's Radiance Layer. Unlike other animals in the game, which are fully anthropomorphic with humanoid stances, snakes retain the limbless body plan of their real-life counterparts. Nevertheless, they are depicted as intelligent and civilized; they are capable of manipulating tools such as pickaxes with their tails and they wear sleeve-like clothes adapted to their body, as well as golden bracelets, lenses, and lantern-like hats. These clothes will be destroyed if Donkey Kong high-fives them, leaving them wearing simple sweater-like undergarments.
Their culture is depicted as centering around arts and crafts, with sculpture being a particular focus. They are shown to favor utilizing Glow Stone as a sculpting material, which is best shown by the Synthetic Sun. They are capable of springing themselves into the air with their tails, an ability inherited by Donkey Kong's Snake Bananza form. In their dialogue, the "s" sound in certain words is often drawn out, a trait stereotypically associated with snake hissing.
During the events of Donkey Kong Bananza, the Synthetic Sun is deactivated, and the snakes request that Donkey Kong and Pauline restart it. They also ask them to defeat Poppy Kong and Grumpy Kong of VoidCo.
