Golden roots, also known as gold roots or just roots, are objects in Donkey Kong Bananza. As their name implies, they are roots that consist of gold, specifically pure gold. Golden roots are roots that originate from the Banandium Root, sprouting across the Underground World and even the surface. Golden roots reportedly stopped growing when the Banandium Root seized King K. Rool. Using a Swap Harp that involves gold, golden roots can be converted to another terrain type, such as rubber. Small roots made of rubber are erroneously classified as the pure gold terrain type.

In the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC, emerald roots are the emerald counterparts to golden roots that appear during Emerald Rushes. Emerald roots are the unripened form of golden roots. The Superior Smasher Emerald Perk increases the amount of emerald ore produced from breaking emerald roots.
