Munchoids are mechanical, centipede-like enemies in Donkey Kong Bananza, first appearing on the Forest Layer. They are rectangular creatures with sharp teeth, drills on their face, and an extendable body made of varying materials. Munchoids spawn from small metal structures when Donkey Kong gets close. They will then pursue him, extending while chomping through and destroying terrain. A Munchoid can only extend to a certain length before it is dazed for a few seconds and retracts back inside its metal structure. Munchoids can also be dazed by hitting their head with a chunk. The only way to defeat a Munchoid is to destroy its extendable terrain body. This can be done with a punch, a chunk, or directing the Munchoid to bite itself. Outside of Battle Challenges, Munchoids can infinitely respawn from their metal structures; inside of Battle Challenges, the metal structures are destroyed alongside defeated Munchoids.
In the Planet Core and New Donk City, Munchoids are replaced by crocodile-shaped machines containing Klaptraps inside. They function identically to Munchoids, differing only in design.

Naming[edit]
The Munchoid's name comes from "munch", which means to chew something continuously. Its name also includes the "-oid" suffix shared by most of the Underground World's enemies, in reference to their creator, the Void Company.
