“The story takes place in the Underground World, where the scenery changes the deeper you go. Some layers are so spectacular that it's hard to believe you're underground.”
Donkey Kong Bananza Direct[1]

The Underground World is the primary setting for Donkey Kong Bananza. As its name implies, it is a vast world consisting of many different layers located deep underground. Donkey Kong is sent into the Underground World while exploring for Banandium in Ingot Isle. There, he encounters Pauline[1], then transformed into the Odd Rock.

The Underground World is home to Banandium Gems and fossils.
