- —Elephant Elder, Donkey Kong Bananza
The Elephant Bananza is a Bananza that Donkey Kong can activate in Donkey Kong Bananza to transform into an elephant. It is taught by the Elephant Elder in the Tempest Layer and is the fourth Bananza learned. Its abilities are similar to those of Ellie from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
When is held while in this form, Donkey Kong will Inhale with his trunk, allowing him to clear away most destructible terrain, including thorns, lava, and Banandium Mush; concrete can only be Inhaled in terrain chunk form, while Spiked Concrete and muck cannot be Inhaled at all. While Inhaling, a magenta bar, located underneath the targeting reticle, will begin draining. Once empty, Donkey Kong will stop Inhaling due to running out of breath, and the bar will fully refill after a second. The range and distance that terrain is Inhaled at, as well as how long Inhale can be used for, can be upgraded with Skill Points.
Inhaled terrain is stored in an inventory as chunks, displayed below the Inhale meter. Briefly pressing will pull one of these chunks out and place it in Donkey Kong's hands, where it can then be used in the same manner as regular chunks of terrain. This move is referred to as Trunk Chunk by the game. The Trunk Chunk inventory has five slots by default, but can be upgraded to ten with Skill Points. The Quick Storage skill will allow the Trunk Chunk inventory to fill more quickly from Inhaled terrain.
If Donkey Kong already has a full Trunk Chunk inventory, the new terrain chunks will begin replacing previous chunks. The inventory is retained when Elephant Bananza deactivates, so that it can be accessed the next time the form is activated. In order to be able to safely carry them, lava is stored as obsidian, thorns are stored as grass, and Banandium Mush is stored as Pure Banandium, which acts identically to Boom Rock.
Elephant Bananza is the only Bananza form to be smaller than the species it turns Donkey Kong into; ordinary elephants are about twice as tall as this form.
