Rowdy Race

Donkey Kong and Pauline must race against Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong while each pair rides on the back of a Rambi, charging through terrain to build up a charge meter; this allows the use of Liftoff Ore to create ramps with which to gain a speed boost and create shortcuts. These can then be used by both Rambis. Gold fills the charge meter very quickly, while mud slows the Rambis down and does not fill the charge meter at all.

Three laps of the course must be completed, and the player's Rambi must cross the finish line on the final lap before Diddy and Dixie's Rambi. Beating the Regular Race unlocks a Barrel Cannon which launches Donkey Kong and Pauline to the giant golden trophy containing the layer's sinkhole.

There are two difficulty levels: Regular Race and Rowdy Race. The latter is only available after the game's credits upon defeating K. Rool, King of Rot at New Donk City.

During a Rowdy Race, the opponents are faster and utilise a lot of shortcuts, and there are several Swap Harps for swapping dirt and mud, which the opponents will attempt to use to slow Donkey Kong and Pauline down. The prize for the Rowdy Race is Banandium Gem 04 — Rumbling with Rambi.
