The Skills page in Donkey Kong Bananza

Skill Points in Donkey Kong Bananza enable Donkey Kong to upgrade his innate abilities and unlock new moves. A Skill Point is earned for every five Banandium Gems obtained; therefore, a total of 200 Skill Points can be earned, which is exactly enough to unlock every upgrade.

The game will recommend a skill for the player to focus on unlocking based on location and story progress; it does this by marking the icon of a skill with a star and placing a diagonal black banner in the lower right corner of the skill's demonstration window reading "Get this!".

If Donkey Kong wishes to re-spec his skills, he can speak to one of the elders and ask them to reset his skills, which will also refund any Skill Points that have been spent; in addition, if he has more than one can of Apple Juice or Melon Juice, any extras will be converted into gold.
