DK Island is a layer in Donkey Kong Bananza, becoming accessible after buying the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC. It is the home island of Donkey Kong and his family. Unlike the other layers, DK Island does not particularly occupy a certain set of sublayers and has no Banandium Gems. Prior to the release of the DLC, a silhouette of DK Island can be seen at the surface of the planet as the player selects a layer to travel to.
Donkey Kong and Pauline first arrive here via the Warp Gong after the Eelevator informs them that Void Kong has appeared on DK Island, having landed his Pay-Dirt Piledriver close by and conducting research on emerald ore. When Donkey Kong and Pauline arrive at the island and talk to him, he employs them to collect ore for him in Emerald Rush mode.
After completing Emerald Rush for the first time, Donkey Kong can pay Squawks at Squawks's Hut, initially costing 100 Banandium Chips, to find a statue or gold.
There are multiple interactable objects that can be found around the layer, such as DJ Booths, Rambis, and Squawks. DJ Booths that can change the music of the layer with any discs Donkey Kong has collected. Interacting with a Rambi can spawn Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and Cranky Kong in its location for Photo Mode. Talking to a Squawks will allow the player to reset the statues to their initial positions. There is also a Banandiumtone located on the Floating Islet; completing all eight of its puzzles will grant Donkey Kong a Quick-Change Tie.
Donkey Kong is able to explore DK Island before beating the main game by talking to Squawks in the Racing Layer, located on the podium. Donkey Kong relives the memory of DK Island before the main story of the game, spawning inside the Tree House, though many elements will not be present during this visit, such as Pauline and Void Kong. By talking to any Squawks, Donkey Kong will have the option to return to the Racing Layer.
Void Kong can be fought on DK Island once all Void Company rewards have been collected by talking to him.
