Crockoids are an enemy type in Donkey Kong Bananza. They are golden crocodile-like skeletons encased in various materials with crocodilian carvings on them. They wield a club made of various terrain types in one hand as their main weapon; the handle of the club is usually a golden rod, but it can be a key in some cases. Because concrete cannot be destroyed by Donkey Kong's normal attacks, concrete-covered Crockoids must be defeated first by either cracking their shell open with a chunk of sturdy or extra sturdy terrain or an explosive such as Boom Rock, or through the use of the Kong Bananza transformation if the concrete is not spiky. After the skeleton is exposed, it can then be defeated by a single punch. If a Bridge Seed is thrown at a Crockoid made of Wood, then the Crockoid will flail its limbs and be stuck in place until the bridge is destroyed. When Donkey Kong first encounters a Crockoid, it was a normal crocodile-like skeleton that was plated in a gold-like liquid before being encased in stone; several of these non-golden skeletons can be found in Ingot Isle Cave-In. In the Planet Core and New Donk City, Kritters wearing Crockoid shells that behave identically to Crockoids can be found.

In the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC, a statue of a Crockoid can be collected and placed at the northern side of the Jungle Ruins on DK Island. An Emerald Perk called "Crockoid Demolisher" can appear during an Emerald Rush, which increases the amount of emerald ore that appears after defeating a Crockoid.

Naming[edit]

"Crockoid" is a portmanteau of "crocodile" and "rock". The name includes the "-oid" suffix that is shared by most enemies found in the Underground World, in reference to the Void Company which created them.
