The Freezer Layer is a layer in the Underground World of Donkey Kong Bananza, occupying sublayers 500 to 503. It can either be the sixth or the seventh layer visited, depending on if the player selects to go here or to the Forest Layer in The Divide. It is a snowy ice-cream region resembling the interior of a freezer that is filled with molten chocolate lava in lower layers, and is populated by Zebras. This layer is home to the Zebra Elder, who resides at Sublayer 501.
When Donkey Kong and Pauline first visit the Freezer Layer, they meet various Zebras to plead the duo to investigate the Cooling Tower as a deep freeze covers the layer. As only Zebras can cross the path to the Cooling Tower, they suggest that Donkey Kong and Pauline visit the Zebra Elder to learn the Zebra Bananza, which they do after destroying a Terravoider blocking the entrance to Coolstripe Cavern and a Void Stake blocking the way to Sublayer 501, as well as finding three Ancient Record pieces. Then they return to Sublayer 500 to reach the Cooling Tower, but the entrance is blocked, so they enter it via an emergency entrance to the tower's top floor. After punching a section of ice in the center of the floor, Donkey Kong and Pauline encounter Poppy Kong, who attempts to stop the duo by using stealth perfume to turn invisible. After her defeat, they venture deeper in the tower, using ice cubes to remove molten chocolate and destroying another Void Stake to reach Sublayer 502. There, they head to the Compressor, where Inflammonite resides. Once it is defeated, Donkey Kong and Pauline can move on the next layer.

Banandium Gems[edit]

There are a total of ninety-three Banandium Gems (eighty-four regular gems and three bunches of 3) in the Freezer Layer. During Donkey Kong's first visit to this layer, he can collect sixty-nine Banandium Gems and the three bunches of 3 Gems. After Donkey Kong defeats King K. Rool in New Donk City, another Banandium Gem becomes available to collect; after collecting at least 350 Banandium Gems, fourteen more Gems become available to collect as part of the Zebra Elder's Rehearsal.

- Introducing our latest frozen treat, the Fizzin' Soda Float! This float features a special blue soda and is packed with vanilla ice cream made right here in the Freezer Layer. The translucent blue color of the frigid, fizzy soda is like a calm, cool ocean... Stare too deep and you'll feel like a freshwater fish lost in a freezing ocean! Brrr, brah!
- Introducing our latest frozen treat, the Cloudy Mountain! This dessert has cotton-candy clouds fluffed over an ice-cream float! It's like a small, snowy mountain...that you can totally eat! Sweet! Makes for a great treat, especially while looking out at the Cooling Tower!
- Introducing our latest frozen treat, Serpen-Twin Soft-Serve Ice Cream! I learned this recipe from a striped snake friend of mine. It's a swirly soft-serve cone with two flavors spiraling together, bright-red berry and neon-green lime! It's so yummy, it'll make you want to bounce up and down, brah!
- Introducing our latest frozen treat, the Choco-Melon Overload! Our Choco Bananas always sell out. "I can't NOT get my Banandium sweet tooth on," you said...and we heard you! We took that same celebrated choco coating...but smothered it all over an entire Banandium Melon this time! Now you can stuff your face with bite after bite after bite...and never stop! (Be careful with this stuff, brah.)
- Saga of the Exploritone, Verse 8: The sublayer is warmer than the icy ones we explored above... The heat down here makes it a perfect environment for producing chocolate. They dip a sweet, soft banana into the molten chocolate, which is only possible in this area, and the result... Ah! Thinking about it has caused a rumbling in our insides. We must take in more delicious meals on this journey...
