Synthetic Suns are light sources found in the Radiance Layer's sky. Shape-wise, they resemble coiled snakes. Initially, they are inactive. Once Donkey Kong climbs the Solar Control Tower and flips the switch on the top floor of the tower, one of the Synthetic Suns on sublayer 1202 and 1203 will activate, enabling doors to be opened and allowing Donkey Kong to progress through the layer. Only one Synthetic Sun can be active per sublayer; which one is active can be changed by striking a snake switch. Due to being in the sky, Donkey Kong cannot directly interact with Synthetic Suns.
