Shade Ore is a type of terrain that appears in Donkey Kong Bananza. It is a material that appears within the Underground World, primarily in the Radiance Layer. Shade Ore has two unique forms; ordinarily, it is an incredibly durable purple material covered in geometric patterns. However, when in close proximity to light, it turns into a fragile, white stone. Several enemies made of Shade Ore are deployed by Void Co., including Gloominoids.
Unlike most types of terrain, Donkey Kong cannot destroy Shade Ore by any means in its normal state. Instead, he must introduce a light source near the material, such as Glow Stone or synthetic sunlight, which will transform it into soft terrain that can be smashed or utilized as a chunk. If Donkey Kong carries a chunk of Shade Ore away from the light, it will revert to its original state, providing an indestructible weapon he can swing or throw at enemies.
