The elders are allies in Donkey Kong Bananza. They are a group of five very large animals who act as leaders for the layers in which they reside. They are also DJs, and each of them teaches Donkey Kong a Bananza form which corresponds to their species if he returns their Ancient Record to its turntable, known as an Eternatable.

The elders are:

• Kong Elder, the former greatest salvager monkey in the underground who resides at Elder Court in sublayer 101 of the Lagoon Layer.
• Zebra Elder, a former top chef who resides at Canter Creamery in sublayer 501 of the Freezer Layer.
• Ostrich Elder, who resides at the Eggshell Hotel, of which she is the manager, in sublayer 600 of the Forest Layer.
• Elephant Elder, the top forecaster in the underground who resides at Forecaster Refuge in sublayer 900 of the Tempest Layer.
• Snake Elder, an artist who resides near Constrictor Corridor in sublayer 1201 of the Radiance Layer.
