Donkey Kong Bananza DLC Super Mario Bros. Collaboration[1] is a collaboration event in Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush taking place as part of the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary. During the event, certain cosmetic elements of Emerald Rush have been replaced with elements from on the Super Mario series.

The functionality of the collaboration is distinct from that of standard Emerald Rush events. The cosmetic changes apply to all Emerald Rush runs (with the exception of a run on DK Island at difficulty 1 and the credits) instead of being specifically chosen when first starting an Emerald Rush event. The collaboration also runs concurrently with the standard Emerald Rush events, meaning that those events can be played with the effects of the Super Mario collaboration.

Waves[edit]

The event will be held in four waves:[1]

Changed elements[edit]

While playing Emerald Rush during the event, Donkey Kong and Pauline gain outfits based on Mario and Luigi, sporting the respective plumbers' caps and overalls; the Status menu does not reflect these outfit changes, as it instead displays the outfits the characters were wearing before beginning the Emerald Rush.

The design of the run start and results screens have been changed to include ? Blocks, Brick Blocks, Coins, Super Mushrooms, and Super Stars.

The standard Emerald Rush music is replaced by "Emerald Rush (Super Mario Version)", which is primarily an arrangement of "Ground BGM" from Super Mario Bros. and features quotes of "Underground BGM" from the same game. The disc can be bought from Squawks for 999 Banandium Chips, and will remain for purchase after the event has ended.[2] The results screen musical themes are arrangements of this theme.

When making music, Pauline hums various portions of "Jump Up, Super Star!". The buzzer warning indicating that the emerald quota has not been met at 20 seconds remaining in the round is supplemented with an arrangement of "Timer Warning".

Various objects take on the appearance and sound effects of related Super Mario objects.
