The King Crockoid[1] is a boss in Donkey Kong Bananza. It is a giant Crockoid built and operated by Grumpy Kong. The body consists of three layers made of different materials, with Grumpy Kong in the top metal layer operating it. Like the Crockoids, it wields a larger club.
The King Crockoid is first encountered in the Canyon Layer, at the end of the first sublayer. This King Crockoid consists of a stone bottom layer and a concrete middle layer, and wields a stone club. Upon destroying the bottom two layers, the metal layer will fall to the ground, with Grumpy Kong dazed and exposed. When Grumpy's health is reduced to half, he will swing his pickaxe around him, damaging Donkey Kong if he is nearby.
The King Crockoid is encountered a second time at the end of the Radiance Layer. This time, the King Crockoid's bottom layers are made of Shade Ore, and wields a club made of Boom Rock. Upon destroying the bottom layers, Grumpy is exposed again, now wearing a Shade Ore helmet. Once his helmet is destroyed and his health is reduced to half, Grumpy now swings his pickaxe twice in succession before becoming dazed again.
The King Crockoid is fought a final time in the Ingot Isle Cave-In, where it appears in the final round of the Bunch of Battles Challenge Rush. The King Crockoid's bottom layers and club are made of gold, and Grumpy uses the attack pattern from his first battle.
In the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC, a statue of King Crockoid can be collected and placed outside Mountain Cave.

Naming[edit]
The King Crockoid is never named or acknowledged within the base game of Donkey Kong Bananza, where it is treated as merely part of Grumpy Kong's boss fights. It is, however, named as a separate subject in its Nintendo Switch Online icon, and later in the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC for its statue.
