Tuning forks, also known as checkpoints, are a type of checkpoint in Donkey Kong Bananza. They are upright, two-pronged forks that rotate slowly. At first, tuning forks are covered in some gold; once this gold is destroyed, Donkey Kong is able to warp to that tuning fork from the Map by using a Li'l Eelevator, provided that he is currently on the same layer as the tuning fork. When a tuning fork is struck, it briefly rotates faster and rings, emulating the effects of the Hand Slap's sonar. Every tuning fork has its own designated name, which is shown on-screen after touching the tuning fork and is usually the name of the location it is found in.

The Li'l Eelevators enjoy tuning forks, with one commenting that the sound of a tuning fork's ring is pretty.

Some Void Goals require interacting with a tuning fork to complete them.

During the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary Emerald Rush collaboration event, tuning forks were made to look like Checkpoint Flags from the Super Mario franchise.
