- “Woooo-hoooo! Welcome back to my mighty windpipe! Say, I just remembered... When that little
guy was controlling me, he made my insides all weird... So watch your step in there!” - —Great Harmoneel, Donkey Kong Bananza
Great Harmoneel's Windpipe is the final Bananza Rehearsal in Donkey Kong Bananza. It is hosted by and takes place within the Great Harmoneel in the post-game. The player has to clear all five previous Bananza Rehearsals before being allowed to attempt the Rehearsal.
Similar to Grandmaster Galaxy, Special 8-Crown, Champion's Road, the Darker Side, and The Final-Final Test Badge Marathon, this Rehearsal is designed to be the most challenging course in the game.
Layout[edit]
Upon taking the Barrel Cannon into the Harmoneel's mouth, the player starts by diving down to the Harmoneel's Maw, a platform with a Giant Apple and a Banandium Melon.
The player then jumps forward off the platform into the first area, through a massive tunnel covered in thorny vines. Throughout the area, vines will grow and block the player's path. The tunnel begins as a vertical drop, then continues as a flat tunnel with a small platform of gold. After the flat segment is another vertical drop, with a second small gold platform. After three more blockades of vines, the tunnel leads to a platform with two crystal Crockoids and the second area.
The second area consists of a winding path of concrete and sections of spiked concrete with spike balls rolling down, similar to the second section of Spiked-Tide Slope in the Hilltop Layer. The player must traverse up a winding path while avoiding spike balls and reach the opposite side, where the third area begins.
The third area consists of a Bopper Switch that lowers a platform of concrete. As the platform descends, Rolluskoids, Squeeloids, and Peekaboopoids will appear from hidden alcoves of the lift shaft and attack.
Lowering the concrete all the way to the bottom unlocks a door to the halfway point of the Windpipe, consisting of a platform with a bunch of three Banandium Gems, along with a Giant Apple and a Banandium Melon. Destroying the crystal on the platform leads to the fourth area.
The fourth area is a dark hallway with platforms of Glow Stone that move forward. The player must traverse the platforms and use the Glow Stone to pass walls made of Shade Ore. The player must also defeat or dodge Shade Ore Stompoids on spiked-concrete platforms. The first section consists of one Stompoid and a large wall of Shade Ore. The second section contains three Stompoids, many platforms of spiked concrete, and a wall with a smaller section of Shade Ore. The third section contains four Stompoids and a wall with a very small section of Shade Ore. Past the third wall is a platform with three Illuminoids and a bulb. Lighting the bulb unlocks the door to the fifth area.
The fifth area involves a path of five rails without minecarts. Using the Kong Bananza, the player must tear off a chunk from the nearby concrete Fractone, and use the chunk to Turf Surf along the rails. The player must also jump over spiked-concrete Crockoids that appear along the rails. Eventually, the middle rail leads to a Barrel Cannon that takes the player to the sixth area.
The sixth area is a two-dimensional course with two distinct sections. The first section involves a maze with flaming barrels throughout the course. The player must travel through the maze and destroy concrete and a lava Crockoid to advance. At the end of the maze is a wall of gold; past this wall is a Banandium Melon and the second section. The second section of this area involves a long platform of water with falling flaming barrels throughout, and the Elders watching from the background. The player must use the Zebra Bananza and traverse across the water without getting hit by the barrels.
At the end of the water platforms, the player can then take the minecart, which travels across a rail through a large golden message reading "THANK YOU!!" with two golden Fractones in the shape of the exclamation marks. After the rail, the player drops through a final tunnel, onto a platform containing the final bunch of five Banandium Gems, a Li'l Eelevator, and some Fractones. The five elders surround the platform; upon clearing the stage for the first time, the elders each congratulate Donkey Kong and Pauline for enduring the challenge.
Balloons[edit]
- After the first golden platform of the first area, on the tip of a thorny vine that grows down when the player approaches it.
- In the second area, within the second concrete wall.
- In the third section of the fourth area, high above the platforms of Glow Stone.
- In the fifth area, the player must jump over the Barrel Cannon toward a loop that points to the opposite direction; this balloon appears at the end of the loop.
- In the first section of the sixth area, at the very bottom of the maze, in an alcove to the left before the location where the large flaming barrels land.
