"Breaking Through (Heart of Gold)" is a song featured in Donkey Kong Bananza. It is performed in-universe by a 13-year-old Pauline, who is voiced by Jenny Kidd. Unlike the previous songs sung by Pauline featured in Super Mario Odyssey, this song was only recorded in English, though its lyrics have been translated to other languages. In-game, part of the song with varied lyrics is sung when Pauline tries to free Donkey Kong from his "Odd Rock" form in the Forbidden Layer, while the full song plays during the game credits. The song's bridge uses the "Title BGM" melody from the NES port of Donkey Kong, while Pauline's vocals in the second part of the "Kong Bananza" theme are incorporated near the end of the song, with the "Round 1 BGM" melody from Donkey Kong used as the countermelody. After clearing the Great Harmoneel's Windpipe, Donkey Kong receives the disc for the song from the Great Harmoneel after talking to the Li'l Eelevator in front of him at the Planet Core. An instrumental version of the song titled "Breaking Through (Heart of Gold): Karaoke" also exists as a disc, which is unlocked by popping all five disc balloons in the rehearsal.

Both the short and full versions of the song were featured in the Donkey Kong Bananza Direct broadcast in June 2025. The break directly after the bridge was featured in the game's announcement trailer in April 2025.

When Donkey Kong first picks up Pauline in her Odd Rock form near the start of the game, the first line's melody can be heard. Pauline also hums this melody in this form just before she transforms back to normal after Donkey Kong saves her from inside the Great Harmoneel in the Groove Layer. In the post-game, Donkey Kong and Pauline may whistle and hum this melody when the player holds .
