VoidCo Bongo Blasters are enemies in Donkey Kong Bananza, first appearing in The Junction. They are robots resembling primates armed with a large cannon that appears similar to a conga drum. They appear mounted to pillars and are seemingly unable to move on their own, functioning as turrets.

VoidCo Bongo Blasters are initially locked to one direction, holding their cannons in front of them and occasionally moving their heads around to survey the area or shaking their weapon up and down. If Donkey Kong enters their range, they will immediately raise the cannon above their head and begin tracking his movement, indicated by a purple line directed towards his location, along with a glowing orange spot beneath him. After locking onto the position indicated by the glowing spot and a brief charging period, VoidCo Bongo Blasters fire a projectile made of Boom Rock that immediately explodes on contact, damaging Donkey Kong along with any terrain that is hit. They cannot be damaged by Donkey Kong; however, he can prevent VoidCo Bongo Blasters from attacking by throwing a chunk of terrain at them, which clogs their cannon and leaves them briefly stunned. Donkey Kong may also use the Elephant Bananza to suck in the projectile, which stores a chunk of Boom Rock.

In the DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC, a statue of a VoidCo Bongo Blaster can be collected and placed near Jungle Ruins.

Naming[edit]

The English name is derived from Void Company's ownership of them, and their function as weapons. Despite including "bongo" in their name, the drum cannon they feature more closely resembles a conga, as it is a single drum (unlike a bongo drum, which traditionally consists of a connected pair) that is taller and narrower than a typical bongo.
