- —Pauline, Donkey Kong Bananza
Peekaboopoids are small cephalopod-like enemies in Donkey Kong Bananza. They debut in the Lagoon Layer, being one of the first enemy types Donkey Kong encounters in the Underground World. They appear in pink, green, and blue varieties, and are almost always found in large groups. Peekaboopoids are able to camouflage as various types of terrain, including stone and Boom Rocks, and reveal themselves when Donkey Kong approaches before attacking. Pauline is able to detect their presence before they reveal themselves and will provide a warning to Donkey Kong. They attack by latching onto Donkey Kong and gradually draining his health. They are easily defeated with a punch or a Roll Attack, and can also be removed from Donkey Kong by performing a Hand Slap, which will also stun all Peekaboopoids in the vicinity.
A large enemy made up of various Peekaboopoids covered in terrain, called Peekabruiser, is deployed by Grumpy Kong against Donkey Kong and Pauline in the Lagoon Layer, and another is encountered in the Landfill Layer.

Naming[edit]
Their name likely comes from "peekaboo" (also spelled peek-a-boo), a game traditionally played with infants or young children, in which one hides and reappears, referencing their ability to hide before ambushing Donkey Kong. The name includes the "-oid" suffix that is shared by most enemies found in the Underground World, in reference to the Void Company which created them.
