Lasers are obstacles in Donkey Kong Bananza. They are bright pink beams shot horizontally out of gold nozzles on a thin pillar. In some areas, this pillar rotates. Lasers activate when Donkey Kong is in proximity to them. The length of lasers vary, with longer lasers appearing more frequently in ancient ruins. If Donkey Kong is hit by a laser, he loses one and a half hearts (three quarters of a heart in Assist Mode). Soft terrain is quickly worn down when it touches a laser, sturdy terrain is worn down at a slower rate, and extra sturdy terrain is unaffected by lasers. Depending on material, chunks are either instantaneously destroyed or knocked back when hit by a laser. Lasers primarily appear in sublayer 301 of the Canyon Layer. Lasers are sometimes encountered while riding a mine cart, including in the Mad Mixer's battle.
