History[edit]
Super Mario series[edit]
New Super Mario Bros.[edit]
New Super Mario Bros. marks the first appearance of "Mega Mario".
New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]
In New Super Mario Bros. 2, the original version of "Mega Mario" plays whenever the player obtains a Mega Mushroom.
Super Mario 3D World[edit]
In Super Mario 3D World and the Nintendo Switch port, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, the original version of "Mega Mario" plays whenever the player obtains a Mega Mushroom. The theme's speed and pitch increase when Mega Mushroom's effect is about to run out in a similar vein to the Super Star.
Mario Kart Wii[edit]
In Mario Kart Wii, the original version of "Mega Mario" plays whenever the player uses a Mega Mushroom. The theme is also showcases the doppler effect, which is a real-world phenomenon where the pitch of a sound is distorted when the object omitting the sound is moving at a different speed than the object receiving the sound. As a result, when the player passes or is passed by an opponent with a Mega Mushroom, the pitch of the theme will be distorted as they move closer or further away from the player.
Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash[edit]
In Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, a metal arrangement of "Mega Mario" arranged by Motoi Sakuraba plays when a player collects a Mega Mushroom.
