Snow-covered trees,[1] also called Snowy Branches,[2] are obstacles in New Super Mario Bros. They consist of trees with snow that hangs on their branches and falls once the player character walks underneath. Though the snow does not damage the player character, it does trap him for a moment, leaving him vulnerable to enemy attacks. The player character can escape the snow by pressing the jump button or simply not stand beneath the branch when the snow falls. Thirteen snow-covered trees appear in the game, all of them in the snow-themed World 5-1.
