Chapter 1Edit

スーパーマリオカートGPグランプリ ボンボンカップ予選よせんヒート)(Super Mario Kart GP - BomBom Cup (Qualifying Heat))

The Mushroom Castle has been flooded by a leaking pipe. Of course, Mario and Luigi are called to fix it, but while probing the ground in search of the broken pipe, Mario sends it flying onto a vase place on a pedestal that states "Seattle Vase," which Luigi confirms to be valued at ten million yen. The pipe crashes on the vase, reducing it to pieces. Unable to pay such high debt, Mario finds a solution: the Comic BomBom association is hosting a kart race competition, and the cash prize is just the right amount they need. While creating their own karts out of their old trikes, a few characters come to them to tell them they will be seeing soon on the racetrack: first is Donkey Kong and his son Junior, ready to make him pay for all the troubles they endure from him; then is Lady, Mario's ex-girlfriend, who will be leading the pit crew; and finally Princess Peach, who in seeing Mario greeting Lady, throws a jealous fit and tells Mario that she will team up with Yoshi instead of him like she originally wanted.

Later that day, on the starting line, Furutachi Kuribō announces the contestants: Team Mario and Luigi with their own karts, Team "Beauty and the Beast" (Peach and Yoshi) with their royal cars, Team Toad and Koopa Troopa driving together on a modified shopping cart, and finally Donkey Kong Jr., who is racing solo on his own kart with a basket full of bananas. The qualification race, which will establish the starting position of the BomBom Cup, begins. Mario and Luigi found themselves already behind, because, due to the lack of engines, they have to pedal, but after gaining speed they manage to surpass Toad and Koopa Troopa and soon reach the others, who are having troubles in avoiding some Warp Pipes in the middle of the track.

Toad and Koopa get the first place, but due to the lack of a steering wheel, they fly off the course when facing the first curve. Meanwhile, Donkey Kong Senior, seeing his son knocked out cold from crashing into a pipe, distract the other pilots by throwing coins on the track and everyone jumps out of their vehicle to collect them (even Peach, since she splurged her allowance in making her cars). Lady and her crew arrive to offer Mario to add engines and a proper steering wheel to their karts in exchange for those coins. Meanwhile, Junior regain consciousness and reprise the race, followed by Peach and Yoshi, but the young ape quickly gets rid of them by eating the bananas in his basket and throwing Banana Peels on the track. Peach and Yoshi are upset at this, but if throwing items is allowed, so be it: they then proceed to throw Yoshi's Eggs and Poison Mushrooms to Mario and Luigi, who are catching up. Luigi is hit by the mushroom and crashes out of the track, while Mario manages to surpass the two.

Soon, Mario is able to catch up with Junior. Not wanting Mario to steal first place from his son, Donkey Kong Senior jumps on Mario's kart and chokeholds him. Seeing this, Junior throws a Banana Peel to trouble Mario even more. But Mario notices it and starts to drift, throwing Donkey Kong off balance and causing him to fall off, then slams against Junior's kart, sending him off-track, and then he crosses the finish line, earning first place. Soon after the positions are revealed: Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Junior, Luigi, and Toad and Koopa. As the Kong sigh for the loss, an eighth pilot approaches them, telling Senior to leave it to Junior and him for the race, he then removes his helmet, revealing to be Bowser.

Chapter 2Edit

スーパーマリオカートGPグランプリ ボンボンカップ決勝けっしょうヒート)(Super Mario Kart GP - BomBom Cup (Final Heat))

It is now time for the main event, but just then Bowser arrives, followed by a biker gang of Monty Moles. Bowser announces that he will join the race, as partner of the Kongs, and since he skipped the qualification heat, he will gladly start in last. As Donkey Kong wishes Mario "good un-luck", he sits with Junior on his kart and the race begins. Strangely enough, Mario's kart does not start, leaving him on the starting line. Bowser also delays on the starting line, but just to flaunt to Mario his jet-engine and drill kart, before leaving him behind. After Mario realizes that some Moles stole his engine, he goes to Lady to asks for a replacement, promising to pay her service after winning the money prize.

Meanwhile, some teams are starting to bickering: Peach is rejecting Yoshi's idea of proposing to her if he wins, and Toad and Koopa, while accepting that the best they can aspire is third place, they decide to split after discussing on who should stand on the podium, sawing their kart in half. From Donut Plains, the race move to Choco Island, where Yoshi spins after trying to eat a Piranha Plant he mistook for a chocolate candy, and Toad also goes off-track with his undrivable halved kart. Koopa Troopa, meanwhile, hits Luigi with his own shell, knocking him out, but then he flies off-road too, after slipping on Junior's banana peel. Peach is now just behind Bowser and the Kongs, but Bowser is unable to hurt her, while Donkey Kong yells at him to keep it together, claiming that him too wants to kidnap Lady, but has a race to focus on. Just then, Mario and Lady reach them, threatening the Kongs with Snapjaws. Surprised by Mario's new engine, Bowser extends his wheels' axis to block Mario and Peach from surpassing him.

Next track is the Boo-infested Ghost Valley. Peach gets scared by the ghosts and remains behind, getting angry in seeing Mario continuing without turning to help and with Lady on his passenger seat. Using first a Feather and then a Mushroom given to him from Lady (of course, adding them to the tab), Mario surpasses Bowser. The Kongs then proceeds to turn a sign to trick Mario into taking a dead end, and while he falls for it, Bowser is also tricked. At the dead end, Mario manages to break before running over a stray Boo that Lady picks up, while Bowser is so eager to surpass him that flies off the track and sink into the mud.

Continuing, Mario catches up with the Kongs, but colliding with them, both karts spins out of control: Mario, Lady, and the Boo are thrown into the air, Donkey Kong Senior too, while Junior's kart crashes into a rock and gets engulfed in flames with him inside. Mario pulls him out of the kart-wreck: he is alive, but his burns need to be tended to. Meanwhile, the rest of the pilots have arrived to the crash site. Peach informs Mario that the Mushroom Kingdom Hospital is 20 km from there, he will never manage to take Junior there and return in time. Having no choice, Mario entrusts Luigi to win the money prize, then sprints to the hospital. Just then Bowser arrives, having drilled his way from the swamp, collects Donkey Kong Senior, and run for the finish line, followed by the others (Lady takes a lift from Yoshi).

While Mario is proceeding towards the hospital, the Mole biker gang gets in his way, ordered by Bowser to hinder him. In his aid, the stray Boo gives Mario's kart his powers to turn intangible, leading the biker gang to drive off a cliff in confusion, as Mario reach the hospital in time, leaving Junior in the care of Dr. Mario and returning just in time to catch up with everybody. Meanwhile, Bowser gets a video call from the biker gang, that informs him that they failed. When Donkey Kong asks him why the gang was trying to stop Mario from taking Junior from the hospital, Bowser explains they were just a precaution in case Mario did make it back in time, sending the ape into a raging fit, and making Bowser swerve.

Last course: Bowser's Castle, filled with Thwomps and a lava moat. After capsizing Bowser's vehicle, Donkey Kong put an end to their collaboration. As he straightens his kart, Bowser sees the other approaching and shoots them with a Choropū-dan that sends most of them in the lava, but Peach manages to get them all out by bribing some Fishin' Lakitus with the gemstones in her car and they fish the pilots and their car out of the lava. Mario, the only one on the track, is about to surpass Bowser, but he uses a lightning attack. To repay him for saving Junior, Donkey Kong shoves Mario's kart out of the way, getting hit by the full force of the lightning, unfortunately, Mario's engine gets damaged. Next up, Bowser orders the Thwomps to trap Mario underneath them. The umpteenth cheap trick makes Mario so angry that he summons a Super Star that makes him invincible and, despite the lack of a functional engine, gives him a boost that makes him cross the finish line first. Bowser is so stunned by this that Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi surpass him, while the former reminds him that they made their karts out of trikes, so he can always pedal even without an engine and Peach's engine is powered by .

During the ceremony, Mario gets the money prize, but new problems arise: with Lady's cut for the engine and items, Dr. Mario with Junior's medical bill, and the staff asking for a reimbursement for the damages done to the tracks, Mario is back again to be poor. Just then, the Mushroom King arrives, angry that Mario left his plumbing job before finishing it. Mario starts mumbling about the Seattle Vase, but this makes the king and Peach confused. Back at the castle, the Toadstools reveal the actual vase under the pedestal and are confused on what happened to the worthless old vase that was improperly positioned above it, the one squashed by the pipe. Mario sighs in relief, but then asks what he can buy with the 500 yen that are left of the money prize. Luigi replies that he can always buy a KC Mario issue.

Chapter 3Edit

スーパーマリオカートGPグランプリ スペシャルカップ (Super Mario Kart GP - Special Cup)

At Bowser's Castle, Larry brings his father a newspaper article: the Mushroom King is holding a new kart race competition, the Special Cup, and the winner will be the Mushroom Kingdom King for one entire day. Bowser is not much interested into it, but when Larry points out that winning means that he gets to dine with Peach and even bathe with her. Excited, Bowser enrolls in the competition. The other racers of BomBom Cup (Peach included) have also enrolled, and by just seeing each other, Bowser and Mario figures out they got the same idea, while the others are more interested in a royal feast and Luigi wants to bring home a royal treasure. The race begins, as the boys begins to bicker on who shall be victorious, they enter Donut Plains 3. Peach, tailing them, yells at them to be careful on the wooden bridges. They do (reprising the bickering once on the ground) and on the second bridge they notice that it is broken and build enough speed to jump over it. Peach, who was slowing down in the curves, does not and falls in the lake. A Lakitu fishes her kart out, but the princess has fallen out of the vehicle, prompting Mario to dive in. At the bottom of the lake, Mario meets the bilingual Frog Princess. She explains the frogs of the secret Frog Kingdom have rescued her and, in order to keep it a secret, the Frog Princess gives them two treasure chests to open in case of distress.

Back in the surface, where the other pilots are still bickering, Peach immediately opens her chest (no one caring for her wellbeing is a situation of distress). From the chest, an ice creature freezes the course, turning it into Vanilla Lake 2. The slippery terrain causes problems to Luigi, Donkey Kong Jr., Toad, and Peach, while the reptiles start to go into hibernation, but Bowser manages to keep himself warm with wool clothings. After crashing into a wall, Peach and the other struggling pilots give up, leaving Mario and Bowser as the remaining contestants. The princess and Junior pass Mario a Dash Mushroom and a Banana Peel to use against Bowser. As the race continue, with Mario gaining up by jumping on the icebergs, the water creates a rainbow so vivid that the racers can drive up it, arriving to the legendary sky course: Rainbow Road.

On the course, Mario is able to catch up and surpass Bowser and, thanks Peach's Dash Mushroom, he manages to avoid the Choropū-dan that the Koopa King launches at him. Using his trump card, Bowser calls the Super Thwomps. They place in front of Mario and, unable to break in time, crashes into them, his kart blows up and he almost falls off the course, holding to dear life to the edge. As Bowser tries to pass by, Mario throws Junior's Banana Peel on a yellow floor tile. Unable to see it, Bowser slip and crashes into the Super Twomps as well. Left with one tire each, Mario and Bowser begin to finish the last trait of the course by balancing on the wheels. Bowser gets in front and, using his farts, keeps Mario away from him. As he approaches the finish line, Peach, from below, uses the second chest and a lightning bolt exits and hits Bowser, shrinking him and slowing him down. Mario squashes him and crosses the finish line.

Mario won the Special Cup, but his day as a king reveals to be quite disappointing: after hours of paperwork and a good feast, about to go in the bath, he discovers that Peach had to go on a business trip. As he bathes alone, Mario does not suspect that Peach is actually peeping on him.
