Jī is an elder Toad that appears sporadically in the Super Mario Kodansha manga as Princess Peach's butler, much like Toadsworth's roles in following games. He is depicted like a normal Toad, with his only distinctive trait being his wrinkly eyelids. In Super Mario: Yoshi Island 3, set 20 years before the main events of the manga, he also has bushy eyebrows.
He makes his first appearance in Super Mario World! Mario Open Golf, coming to collect Princess Peach from the Golf Club. This surprises Tony, who was hitting on Peach and Daisy by flaunting his whealt, only to discover he is out of their royal league.
In Super Mario Kart 1, he is revealed to be replacing Peach's kart engine by pedaling to make the vehicle move.
In Super Mario Land 2 - 6-tsu no Kinka 3, when Peach and Mario return to the Mushroom Castle from their date in the park, Jī welcomes them, informing that the Kinoko Police is asking about Mario wearabouts, unaware that Mario was framed by Wario for a bank robbery.
In Super Mario: Yoshi Island 3, a (relatively) young Jī is the Mushroom King's butler, helping him raise Baby Peach.
