Akai Pegasus
Akai Pegasus
Appears in Super Mario Kodansha manga ("Impossible operation!? Save the runaway express train!!") (1996)

The Akai Pegasus is a bullet train made of four wagons, including the control wagon, that appeared in Super Mario: Yoshi Island 3 of the Super Mario Kodansha manga. The head of the train is a red-nosed Yoshi face with wings, but only the nose is red, the rest is white. The name of the train is derived from the manga series of the same name by Shogakukan.

During the maiden voyage of the Akai Pegasus, TVK reported that Baby Peach was set to participate. This pushed Baby Bowser and Kamek to prepare a trap, but luckily Baby Mario, as the head of the Yossy Helper Team, was on board. Kamek intended to blow up the control panel of the train with Bob-ombs to stop it, but all it did was preventing the train conductor (a Toad) from accessing the brakes. When Kamek teleported inside, he ordered the conductor to stop it, but instead of listening to his explanation, Kamek threatens the train by blowing up an upcoming bridge. Angry, the conductor, the train monitor (a Dancing Spear Guy), and Baby Mario, beat the wizard up for his negligence. The YHT gets on the move: Baby Mario takes every passenger to the last wagon, minus Baby Bowser who refuses to follow him, then disconnects it from the train. Meanwhile, Baby Luigi and Helicopter Yoshi bend the broken bridge trap upwards: the train flies to the sky, straight into space, while the disconnected wagon, by losing speed, comes to an halt before doing the same end as the rest of the train. As every passenger gets off the wagon, nurse Kinopio-san informs she has another emergency: she was supposed to deliver a rare blood type to Dr. Mario by using the train, so the YHT takes upon themselves to complete the delivery.
