Furutachi Kuribō is a Paragoomba that works as the announcer of the BomBom Cup that appeared in Super Mario Kart 1 of the Super Mario Kodansha manga. His name, profession, and glasses are a nod to Ichiro Furutachi.
During the BomBom Cup, Furutachi Kuribō is seen on the sidelines or on a hot-air balloon (since he is using one of his wings to hold the microphone) commenting on the events of the race. Beside that, his only relevant role happens at the end of the race. After Mario wins the race and the money prize, Lady and Dr. Mario come to take a share of the money to repay his debts. Furutachi Kuribō does as well, in order to pay the damages done to the courses.
