Kuribō is a Goomba that works as a doctor at the Mushroom Kingdom Hospital. He appears in the Dr. Mario manga as an ally of Mario.
Kuribō appears in chapter 2 as Luigi's doctor, supervising him when affected by a stronger version of the Gahaha Biyō. While he supervises on the outside, Dr. Mario and Princess Peach try to fight the Viruses inside Luigi's body. Kuribō informs the two with a walkie-talkie of Luigi's conditions. During a lunch break, he makes himself some ramen and when Mario asks him to help them escape a dire situation, his pepper shaker accidentally falls on Luigi's nose, who sneezes out Mario and Peach.
In chapter 3, after directing Mario to Luigi's brain, he offers his ramen to Luigi when his hunger causes him to imagine a lot of food that is damaging Mario's ship. Later he give Luigi a magazine to distract himself, and accidentally helps Mario, seeing as the magazine contains a Dr. Mario strategic guide, which appears in front of Mario when fighting the Viruses. To stop him, Gahaha Daiō, who sneaks aboard Mario's ship, steals it and search for an exit, hitting some cerebral nerves that causes Luigi to punch Kuribō, who blacks out. After regaining consciousness, Kuribō frees Peach from some ropes and she takes care of Gahaha Daiō and saves Luigi.
Kuribō also appears in the last chapter, helping Dr. Mario in his challenge against Gahaha Daiō, but he brainwashes him, Luigi, and Peach, turning them in costumed Viruses to hinder Mario, but he wins the challenge, freeing the three from Gahaha Daiō's mind control.
