Species Paragoomba
Appears in Super Mario Kodansha manga ("This is supposed to be the Old Wild West... but I feel like I've seen these faces, before") (1992)

The Sheriff is the Paragoomba law enforcer of a Texan town in 1850, who appears in the "Time Traveler" storyline of the Super Mario Kodansha manga. He wears a cowboy attire, complete with a sheriff star. He uses his wings as hands, but despite owning one, he does not use the pistol.

When Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach come to town looking for Bowser, who has become the leader of a local gang of bandits that terrorized the town, causing the citizens to all leave. The Sheriff invites the heroes to leave as well, but they refuse. When two members of the gang appear, the Sheriff takes Peach to safety inside his station. When Luigi is then shot by Bowser, Peach and the Sheriff tend to Luigi. With his condition worsening, the Sheriff explains that they have mere hours to find the Densetsu no Super Kinoko to heal him, located in Geronimo Yoshi's territory, who then captures the two for stealing the scarce food in their region, but immediately releases them, recognizing Peach as one of the heroes who helped Genshi Yoshi. Luigi is healed up and, together with the Native American Yoshis, they go and rescue Mario from Bowser's lair. With the Koopa King's defeat, the Sheriff proclaims in joy that the citizens will return to town.
