まんがスーパーマリオカート (Super Mario Kart Manga) / Super Mario Cart Rally
Chapter 1[edit]
People from all over the world are converging to the Mushroom Kingdom to take part in the Super Mario Cart Rally, a special race across the whole kingdom with two pilots per kart with a huge price money on the line. As usual, Mario will race with Luigi on their Monster, while Peach has just finished building her and Yoshi's kart, but the King stops her and forbids her to take part in such dangerous race. Other teams include Bowser and Wario, Donkey Kong and Junior, the Baby Yoshis on the F1 Hanachan, and many others. When Yoshi asks the King what he can do without a partner, Birdo appears, offering herself as his co-pilot. Reluctantly, Yoshi agrees.
As the race begins, the Mario Bros. get the lead, but Yoshi, using Birdo's gadgets, uses a Yoshi's Cookie screen to summon a PANIC effect, causing all the adversaries to get launched in the air. Yoshi and Birdo take the lead and, to protect themselves from a barrage of explosive shells, Yoshi summons a BLIND effect, causing a shild of ? Panel to protect them and deflecting the shells back to the senders. After the smokes dissipates, Luigi is revealed to be badly injured and looking for a first aid in the back, Mario finds Princess Peach: she snuck away from her father to join the race one way or another. Indifferent to the rally, Mario asks Peach to direct him to the Mushroom Kingdom Hospital. Accidentally taking the lead, the others follow Mario to the hospital, racing through the building's halls and walls. After finding Dr. Mario Nakamatsu, with Luigi's injuries attended to, Mario and Peach lay him on the back seat and sprint out to return to the race, followed by the other and provocking more damage (including running over the doctor).
Back on track, the race move through the urban area, where Bowser has prepared a trap: thanks to the Monty Mole Underground Unit, the terrain beneath the road was hollowed, and some Chargin' Chucks are just waiting to demolish the supporting column. Right as Mario's Monster approaches, the Chucks destroy the area, creating a massive hole in the middle of the road, where everyone falls in, except Mario and Peach, how have managed to balance their car on the gas pipeline. Furious, Bowser tries to cut the pipe to make them fall, but a strange individual, wearing a full pilot outfit with a cape, arrives and stops Bowser with a rose. When Bowser asks the helmeted man his name, he replies that his name is Cannon Ball Z, then skids off with his equally disguised partner.
As Mario and Peach keep leading the race, one last kart surpasses them: it is Daisy and Otaku-chan. Excited by the announcement that she is going to be an important character in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie, Daisy has now taken the lead, laughing at the others left behind.
Chapter 2[edit]
ピーチがピンチにならないと
Still enthusiastic, Daisy starts doing pirouettes on the passanger seat, distracting Otaku-chan and causing the two to crash into a lampost. With Mario and Peach back in the lead, the race move to the jungle region. Yoshi attempts another use of the Yoshi's Cookie screen to cast another PANIC effect, but having accidentally selected BLIND beforehand, the effect goes to him, causing his and Birdo's kart to explode, eliminating the two from the race.
Next up, Bowser calls the Jungle Unit Monty Moles to hinder Mario. They chop down a tree, but the Monster passes under it. However, due to the bumpy road, Luigi falls off the kart, while the rest of the races crashes into the cut down tree. Luigi wakes up and wonders into the jungle, falling into a trap set by a trio of Amazons. They take him prisoner to their village through a cave, but one of them, Miki-chan, trips and is left out of the now-closed cave entrance. While on the bumpy trail, Peach almost falls off as well, but in doing so notices the disappeareance of Luigi. Mario makes a U turn to find him. Seeing them taking a different route, the pilot stuck at the tree follows them.
While looking for Luigi, Mario gets coiled by a snake, but Peach saves him by throwing the spare tire into the reptile's mouth, causing him to slither way. Wario later spots the snake, mistaking it for the fabled Tsuchinoko, for which there is a reward for who can prove its existance. He immediately hits the brake, but the other pilots rear end him and Bowser's kart, causing them to be flung straight into the Amazon village inside the volcano. The leader, queen Run, explains that worried for the lack of rain, her tribe will perform a sacrifice to the dought god, a Blargg living in the volcano, by offering it Luigi. While Wario and Bowser do approve of her idea, they are taken prisoners both in case sacrificing Luigi does not work and because men are considered enemies of the Amazons.
Mario and Peach find Luigi Cap and Miki-chan, and ask her if she saw Luigi. She replies that he was taken to their village, but only the queen has a key to access. Just then, one of the pilots driving a Banzai Bill kart, speeds past behind them, crashing into the cave entrance, opening it. Taking Miki-chan with them, Mario and Peach enter the cave, followed by the other pilots. She then warns Mario that at the exits there is a cliff, so he stops in time, but the others keep on driving straight, accidentally creating a bridge over a moth of lava by holding to dear life to the cart in front of them, and with Donkey Kong holding onto the other side of the cliff. Mario crosses it and, just in the nick of time, saves Luigi from being dropped into the maw of the Blargg. Run is mad, but just then a raincloud appears and comes pouring down, killing the Blargg and putting an end to the drought.
The Amazons celebrates, hugging and kissing Mario (much to Peach's jelousy). The heavy rain also filled the moat with water and so the pilots can continue down the current to continue the race.
Chapter 3[edit]
After floating down the river, the pilot reach the next part of the race: the Safari Course. Bowser calls the Monty Mole Safari Unit, but due to the flood they drowned. Luckily for him, Wario was one step ahead, and tamed all the animals of the region, ordering them to hinder Mario. In a matter of minutes, vultures and cheetas are after the Monster, but Mario manages to get away from them, until he slams against a rhino blockade that only let Bowser and Wario pass. The Kongs are also stopped by the blockade and Donkey Kong gets down to asks the rhinos in animal language why are they doing this. One of them explains that their cubs and children were taken hostage by Wario and if they want to see them again, they have to let him and Bowser win.
Mario decides to help the cubs, ready to give up on the prize money, and asks one of the vultures to lead them to where they are held. The vulture agrees in human language and leads Mario and the Kongs to the location, followed by the other races, convinced again they are going through the intended path. It takes the pilot some hours before realizing they are going in circles around a rock in the wasteland, before the vulture points to the microphone in his collar: Wario has tricked them by pretending to be the fowl, leaving them in the desert after they wasted a lot of gas in their vehicles. Meanwhile, Wario and Bowser are going to check on the imprisoned cubs by an oasis fort surveiled by the Kiddokatto, but one of their tires gets punctured and the crash into the fort, creating a hole from which a lion cub escapes unbeknownst to everyone.
Back to the others, Mario and Luigi are exploring afoot the nearby area, while the rest of pilots are suffering from the thirst. Peach remembers that she has brought with her a bottle of water and almost creates a uprising, but Cannon Ball Z appears to avoid that someone hurts Peach, but he too claims to be lost like them and cannot aid them. Just then, Mario and Luigi find the lion cub and following his footprints, the pilots arrive to the oasis. Wario, still occupied in replacing the tire, sics the animals against them, but Mario stops the lion by showing his cub. Greatful for saving his son, the lion let Mario ride him to jump over all of Wario's defenses, and together they destroy the fort, freeing all the cubs. Without any leverage, the animal revolts against Wario and Bowser, chasing them down, while the race continues.
Chapter 4[edit]
It is the last stretch of the rally, only 200 km to the finish line. Bowser, having finally got rid of the animals, calls the Monty Mole Poisonous Troop for one last attempt at stopping Mario. On Mario's trail, a Monty Mole appears, jumping onto the Monster and throwing a highly poisonous scorpion at the passengers, hitting Luigi who gets stung in the nose, making him fall unconscious while his nose grows like a balloon. Thankfully for them, a medical clinic is nearby, run by Dr. Mario and Nurse Peach, held responsible for the damages at the hospital and relocated to a remote facility. Dr. Mario recognizes the effect belonging to the deadly Kurayami Sasori: Luigi has now only 30 minutes left to live, but fortunately the Queen of the Amazons knows where to find the cure. With already 8 minutes wasted, Mario and Peach take Luigi and make a sprint for the Amazons village, followed by the other pilots (once again, believing he is on the intended path), destroying the medical clinic as well. Furious, Dr. Mario and Nurse Peach decide to join them to take the money prize as well. While chasing them, Dr. Mario's kart crashes into Bowser and Wario's.
With 10 minutes left, Mario has reached the Amazon village and explained everything to Run. She explains they can find the antidote in Pū Tairiku, the abandoned hometown of the Monty Moles, but also warns them that nobody was able to leave that place alive and that, due to the steep entrance, they will have to find a new way to exit. Mario accepts the consequences and Run opens the way to the underground city, located under the volcano. After 5 minutes, Mario and the rest of the pilots arrive in Pū Tairiku, running over the Monty Mole that poisoned Luigi while it attempted another attack. While traversing a rock bridge, it cracks under the pilots, and most of them plummet down (they later climb back on top, deprived of their karts). Only Mario and Dr. Mario's kart survived, and the latter seems a little too competitive in trying to reach the antidote before Mario, even ordering Nurse Peach to get in their way. With one minute left, Mario starts to climb the giant Mega Mole statue holding the antidote, when Dr. Mario starts strangling with his stethoscope, revealing to be Wario in disguise.
When they crashed, Nurse Peach passed out and Dr. Mario explained to them what he was doing, so Wario took his place and left the doctor bandaged in Bowser's kart, before the nurse regained consciousness. Meanwhile, Bowser is driving towards the finish line, when another kart approaches: is Cannon Ball Z and his companion Cannon Boy z (that were participating in the race under the guise of Mototin and Henshū). Still trying to help Peach win, Z crashes into Bowser's kart, provoking the explosion of both of their vehicles. Knocked out by the explosions, Z and z's helmets fall off, revealing them to be the Mushroom King and Toad. Not wanting to abandon his "future father-in-law" on the road, Bowser unties Dr. Mario and orders him to help him carry them afoot to the finish line.
Back to Mario, still hindered by Wario, he manages to grab the antidote, but Wario tickles him and he drops it. Fortunately, it lands onto Luigi's bloated nose, curing him at the last second. Just then, a trap mechanism causes the volcano to erupt. Following the remains of an adventured, everyone makes a dash for the supposed exit, only to find themselves in a dead end. Thanks to the eruption, however, the rock beneath them is plunged outside the crater and the rock land right on the finish line right as Bowser, Dr. Mario, the King, and Toad cross it. As everyone starts to bicker on who was first, the referee disqualifies all of them since they lost their vehicles, leaving everyone upset for wasting their time and effort.
Mototin Picture Diary[edit]
モト
- ひとりでバトルモード (Solo Battle Mode): playing as Mario, Mototin wins a game of Super Mario Kart battle mode against CPU Peach. Him gloating about the victory, instead of being ashamed of having hurt a girl, makes Henshū leave the room.
- モト珍 はカートがどへた (Mototin's kart is broken): while playing on Ghost Valley, Mototin attempts to do the shortcut, but gets distracted by thinking to the short cut hairstyle, and falls off the track, leaving even Mario shocked by this.
After these two 4koma, three photos with descriptions follows: one in which Mototin shows off all the Super Mario and Sailor Moon plushies he got from crane games, two pointy peaches he got from a friend, and a photo of his friends during their last visit.
