The Safari Course is the designated third part of the Super Mario Cart Rally, located in the savannah region of the Mushroom Kingdom, south from Toad Town. It appears in Super Mario Kart 3 of the Super Mario Kodansha manga.

It is mostly composed by desert and canyon areas, with sparse vegetation, one of which is an oasis where Wario put an animal prison for the cubs, in order to control the parents and force them to help him win the race. Like in every region, Bowser has set up a Monty Mole unit to help him, but when killed by a sudden flood, Wario explains to him his animal plan, monitoring them through special collars with a microphone system integrated. When the pilots figure out what is Wario's plan, thanks to Donkey Kong speaking in the animal language, Mario and the others decide to help the cubs, but fall victim of Wario's trick and are lead by a vulture to roam in circle in the desert, risking wasting gas and water. Luckily, Wario and Bowser have an accident by the animal prison, that lets a lion cub to slip away, leading the pilots to his friends. With the help of the lion's father, Mario destroys the prison and, now deprived of a leverage, Wario and Bowser are chased off by the angry animals, while the rest of the pilots continue.

The animals present in the area are crocodiles, vultures, cheetahs, rhinoceros, giraffes, hippos, elephants, rams, ostriches, and a giant baby caterpillar. Unlike most of the animals in the series, these cannot speak the human language, with Donkey Kong needing to translate for them. The lion uses a dice with words instead of dots, like "Punishment" and "Let's fight together, Mario!" to communicate.
